Just as anticipated, this morning I woke up exhausted. Not relaxed and rested as you should be on Monday morning. But, it was the result of a busy & fun weekend, for which I'd consider myself pretty lucky.
Friday night Amanda came over after dinner and we drank some wine & watched a few movies. It always makes for a good way to end out the week. Saturday morning Hunter and I had to get up and head out to snowy Buffalo for the Army Christmas party. Hunter slept most of the way and was in good spirits when we finally got there.
There were plenty of kids for him to play with, in fact he made friends with a little girl who was born a week before him!
The party was fun, there was some really good food & of course Santa came! It was funny, Hunter doesn't seem to mind Santa (yet), he doesn't scare him but he's usually hesitant to just walk up to him (can you blame him-big guy, red suit, you do the math!). But to mine and Trevor's surprise, when Santa sat down & asked who would like to be the first child to open presents, Hunter Charles went scurrying over, stood next to Santa and touched his arm. It was the funniest thing! (You had to be there I guess).
He got some cool stuff, a soccer ball, a kid inflatable chair and a stuffed animal.
He was whipped by the time we got home. He took a nap w/ Daddy while I cleaned up the house a little. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, Kansas came over later to watch some movies, & we ordered some Chinese food. Yum!
Sunday, we woke up early to go get our Christmas Tree! It was a chilly day so we tried to make it a quick trip, but we drove to a Christmas Tree farm about 10 miles from our house. They had a lot of great selection but we picked one that looked good but was near the road (we didn't want Hunter out for too long). He loved walking in the snow though.. I just wish we had been better prepared. Long story short, Hunter got a jacket from Grandma Cindy but it was too big (Mommy's bad...) so we weren't able to exchange it in time to go, so he was bundled up like the kid from "A Christmas Story"... poor boy.
We snapped a couple photos... Sorry about the quality, it's with a Droid, in the snow, with mittens on...

A lovely family photo... of Hunter trying his best to escape out of my arms..
"Hunter" posing as a deer... irony?
Mommy & Hunter (please excuse the ponytail/no makeup)
After we got home, we set the tree up but didn't decorate it. Only because frankly, we didn't have time! I had to leave shortly after to go to DJ's birthday party w/ Hunter and Trevor & Kansas had to head over to Devon & Al's house for Al's Birthday Party.
DJ's party was a lot of fun. Lotsa kids, a clown and great food make for a good time. Unfortunately we couldn't stay long because it was really snowy out and we had to still pick up Trevor from Devon's house. It was a crappy drive home but we got there safely & then just watched TV for a bit until bedtime. A successful day!
